Artist's Description

Dungeness mansion was a 59-room, Queen Anne style mansion built on Georgia's Cumberland Island by the Carnegie family in the 1880s. It was burned by arson in 1959. The ruins are now maintained by the National Park Service.

John Simmons

John Simmons has photographed the southeastern US for decades. He specializes in large format photography using cameras such as Speed Graphics and Sinars. Nikon cameras capture his digital images. He studied music at Georgia State University and Berklee and currently plays trombone, bass trombone, and tuba with the Coastal Brass Choir, the St. Simons Presbyterian Church Chancel Wind Ensemble, the Chamber Orchestra, and the Golden Isles Community Band.
